AvtoVAZ may start e-Neva car production on former Nissan plant
MOSCOW, Jan 11 (PRIME) -- AvtoVAZ may start production of electric cars e-Neva on a former Nissan plant in St. Petersburg, the company said in a statement on Wednesday.
"The new facility has a high potential, and the company is ready to consider additional partner projects for it, for instance, production of electric cars e-Neva engineered in St. Petersburg by Almaz-Antey," the company said.
The Central Scientific Research Automobile and Automotive Engines Institute (NAMI) acquired all Nissan Russian assets, including the plant in St. Petersburg, in November.
AvtoVAZ was assigned to provide maintenance services and procure components for the cars. On Tuesday, AvtoVAZ CEO Maxim Sokolov said that the plant would pass into its ownership until March.
